When does patriotism and nationalism go too far? To what extent should a culture try to reach out and help another? Is it important to try to "change the world" or should every culture be allowed to stay within its own beliefs, way of life, etc.?

It goes to far when people began to be harmed. Cultures try to help when they are in need or are allies with that certain culture. Everyone deserves their own way of life, but some aren't the way to go.
ReplyDeleteI think that we should help other people because not everybody is as forunate to have freedom, food, water, and clothes. Even if we don't believe the same things they do it we still need to help them through their struggles
ReplyDeleteWe should not bother people in other cultures. It is what they believe, and they won't have any faith in it if you attempt to force it upon them. People should have the freedom to believe whAt they want to believe, be who they want to be, and live life how they want to live it.

DeleteI think we should leave them to what they are in. We have our own problems. They have lived like that for years they can handle it own there own.

DeleteIt shouldn't matter how much trouble we are in if we have things we can give we should give them what we can. Helping them doesn't mean give them everything we have, you just give what you can and make the best out of it. I mean if we were in their situation we would want help to.

DeleteI strongly disagree. Imagine that your distant cousin, that you haven't spoken to in a while asks you for help. Would you turn them away saying that you have enough of your own problems and you can't deal with theirs too? Everybody is human, you can't just turn you back on someone who needs help just because they're different.

DeleteI believe that you should help people, but only to a certain extent. I don't think you should try to fight a culture into a mold. If they want to be what you're trying to make them, din't force it.
ReplyDeleteWhen they decide to come in and mess up the culture is taking it to far. Also it's to change the world but not taking it to far. Like for example don't take people's money for something you say your using it for but use it for something else

DeleteI think it's important that every culture should stay within their own beliefs. Because if everybody's the same, everything is going to get boring and you wont have anything to learn from. You'll just be stuck doing the same thing.

DeleteI think that we should leave peoples culture alone, this is because I don't think anyone would want an outsider coming in trying to change there culture and beliefs. I don't completely agree with some of the things that different cultures do and Im sure they don't agree with other cultures. If it's not yours to mess with don't mess with it.

Most cultures don't want outsiders coming in trying to change things, most people don't want someone coming in saying that you should believe in this God because of this reason, when they have already been raised that way and believe in something else.

ReplyDeleteI think rather than trying to change the people and change their beliefs to respect everyone for their beliefs and help the big problems like needy and orphaned children. If the practice is dangerous, like killing other people for a certain belief, possibly substitute human killing with a different kind of purification ritual and put the people in a safer place. With killing twins, instead of killing them send them to a organization to help children and preform a purification ritual on the mother.

ReplyDeleteI feel as though you should always help when someone is in need. Because you could be in the same situation . Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions so every one should respect it. You can only tell them what you think but it's up to them if they want to change themselves or not. As long as your patriotism is non violent or disrespectful and you don't cross a line then I think you will be fine.
